History of Prime

Changing the perception of Sales.

2014

Neil and Nicole came together because of their passion for sales, and their passion to change the perception that often surrounds the industry. Their vision was simple – to make sales a career of choice for the younger generation.

Key events

  • Off the back of Neil being a finalist on The BBC Apprentice and Nicole having built a successful sales training business, they came together and launched Prime.
  • They set up an office in the Boardwalk, Manchester (formerly home to many iconic gigs from bands like Oasis and The Smiths), home of MC2 – owned by Prime’s Chairman Mike Perls.
  • They ran their first ever Prime Training Day and hired their first ever employee, Kyle Gallagher aka The Chosen One. Kyle has since progressed to Sales Manager.
  • Started to run their unique Training Day’s bi weekly in the graduate R2R market.

2015

In 2015 came, and with it a training day every week. 500 candidates now trained on the skills needed to be successful in sales, and we also found a new home, moving into the Arches under Deansgate Railway Station, Manchester.

Key events

  • The team increased to 4 and was rewarded by being nominated as a finalist at the North West Entrepreneur of the Year awards forStart-up Company of the year.
  • Prime continued to grow in the graduate rec2rec market and also launched a B2B sales desk.
  • Prime were gifted with their very own office mascot ‘Jon the Dog’.
  • We also bought our first pink sofa for the new office going by the name of ‘old Mary’.
  • We completed a “Sales” workshop for students studying at Sheffield Hallam University.
  • Prime hosted the Manchester Entrepreneur Societies’ “What Next?” conference at The Comedy Store in Manchester, being recognised as sponsors alongside the likes of Manchester United FC & Uber.
  • We attempted to break the world record for the most sticky notes stuck on your face in 60 seconds, all to raise money for Key 103’s Cash for Kids.

2016

In 2016 the team doubled in size to 8, achieved growth of 63% year on year and trained its thousandth graduate on sales.

Key events

  • Annual target hit, so the team we went to celebrate in Rotterdam.
  • Nominated again at the North West Entrepreneur of the year awards for Start-up Company of the year – second year running.
  • Grew the B2B sales desk and celebrated our onehundredth client.
  • Had the legendary Prime ping pong table delivered to the office.
  • Nominated in the “Best Recruitment Company” category at the Talk of Manchester Business Awards.

 

2017

In 2017 we achieved growth of 66% year on year, grew to a team of 12, trained over 1500 graduates on sales, and boosted our links with the Universities, most notably sponsoring MMU’s football teams.

Key events

  • Annual target hit AGAIN, and this time we went to Benidorm (don’t ask).
  • We began our sponsorship with the Manchester Metropolitan Men’s football team, who we still proudly sponsor today.
  • Nicole our Training Director was nominated as finalist at the BESMA 2017 awards in the Sales Trainer of the Year category.
  • Following on from the ping pong table we also decided to add a dart board and pool table to the Prime office.

2018

Prime’s most successful year so far! Another year of 60%+ growth, a team of 17, our twothousandth candidate trained on sales, and the launch of our London Office.

Key events

  • Another year of growth and annual target hit = trip for all to Palma.
  • Nicole our Training Director was once again nominated as a finalist for Sales Trainer of the Year at the BESMA awards.
  • Prime’s London office was launched out of the cool Ministry Of Sound, and soon after Adam Johnson aka AJ was hired as the first ever London team member.
  • We hired our first student placement and digital marketer.
  • With a table tennis table, pool table and dart board already in the office we took the plunge and built a bar called ‘The Prime’ bar.

2019, here we come…
